Local food Experience
Onomichi was a prosperous port town. In the past, the area called “Shingai,” dotted with restaurants and snack bars, was crowded at night with sailors who came to port. In this area, which is a two-minute walk from the hotel, you will find a variety of tasty and austere restaurants that are not well known to tourists.
A yakitori restaurant where you can feel the history of a building more than 100 years old. The counter has a sunken hearth where you can enjoy your meal and drinks in a relaxing atmosphere. The charcoal-grilled chicken is grilled right in front of your eyes as you order, and the food is exquisite.
A good old-fashioned restaurant that has been loved by the locals since 1960. The famous “meat hot pot” is a must-try at least once, with a delicious spicy broth based on three kinds of ingredients and towering green onions wrapped around beautifully sirloin-crusted beef.
This famous restaurant is a hidden gem nestled in a back alley that seems like a time slip back in time. The fresh seafood from the Seto Inland Sea, including Onomichi’s specialty conger eel tempura and sashimi, is exquisite. You can enjoy local seafood in an at-home atmosphere with a glass of Hiroshima sake.
A natural hot spring “Onomichi Minato Kan” is located a 6-minute walk away from the hotel.
It is equipped with a large bath and sauna, and guests staying at the hotel can use a 101 yen discount ticket per person (available from 12:00 to 21:00). You can also enjoy dinner and other entertainment at the restaurants along the way.
